Asia's First Polypropylene Recycling Plant

PureCycle Technologies and SK Geo Centric have partnered to build Asia's first polypropylene recycling plant in Ulsan, South Korea, aiming to be operational by mid-2025. In a groundbreaking move towards addressing the growing plastic pollution problem, PureCycle Technologies and SK Geo Centric have announced a joint venture to construct Asia's first polypropylene recycling plant. The plant will be located in Ulsan, South Korea, and is expected to be operational by the second quarter of 2025.

 

The joint venture, signed on October 20, 2022, will see both companies sharing ownership equally. The facility aims to recycle up to 60,000 tons of polypropylene annually, utilizing PureCycle's patented purification technology. This innovative process will transform contaminated plastic waste into ultra-pure recycled resin that can be reused and recycled indefinitely.

 

PureCycle Technologies' CEO expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting the potential to make a significant impact on reducing plastic waste. SK Geo Centric, known for its market development and strategic capabilities, will play a crucial role in promoting the use of premium recycled plastic in various consumer products.
